Alma’s birth. Glasgow

Alma

This is darling little Alma’s birth story…the one where I was called, got to the hospital in record time and still didn’t make it on time!

Little Alma was clearly in more of a hurry to get into this world as opposed to her big sister Esme! I had the pleasure of photographing both (well almost) their births. I met Laura when she enquired about birth when she was pregnant with her first shortly after I had Louie. We became fast friends from that point on so it truly was an honour to capture such incredible memories for her and her husband Ivan.

Why photograph the birth of your little one you ask?

A wedding is so important of course but in my opinion, the birth of a human surpasses any event you may have in your lifetime. So why not photograph it? There is such a stigma behind it but the way I photograph a birth is all about the raw emotions, the tender moments shared in helping mama through contractions and of course that momentous moment when the baby arrives! No, not the nitty-gritty but instead tastefully and all about reactions from baby, parents and birth partners.

Since I arrived literally a few minutes after Alma made her appearance I had the joy of capturing those “wow she’s finally here” expressions!

Have a peek yourself and scroll down for a link to her big sisters birth.
