a big HELLO
and welcome! We are The Gibsons : )
We grew up in different continents and followed our hearts all the way to getting married in just over a year after meeting. One of us was born in the prairies of Canada. The other is from Glasgow, Scotland. We somehow found each other, joined forces, and are now on this journey together.
Chantal started the business in 2010. From a very young age, Chantal was all about art and being creative. She actually did not watch a movie until she was 9 years old. Very strange but true. Anyway, she received her diploma through a 2-year intensive course through the Photography Institute. She also has a diploma in wedding planning.
Scott joined the business part-time in 2011 as a second photographer then went full time in 2013 as a business partner. He always tries to outdo Chantal. He also second shoots for many other photographers. Not only is he awesome at taking photos but he often gets nicknamed “the legend” for his helpfulness on the day. Don’t know how to wear a kilt? Scott to the rescue.
Outside of work we love being parents to our wee Louie Arthur. We love going on adventures with him, brunching with friends, travelling, chilling out at home with our Canadian cat Abbi or watching cooking shows.
We see our world in a different way. we love to celebrate life and to document it to be enjoyed later on.
We would like to say that we live life to the fullest but we are like you. We work long, hard hours to make sure we deliver for our clients so we do not have lots of free time to live out our dreams. One day!
We have been photographing as a duo since 2011. Between us we have over 500 weddings and must be just as many portrait shoots in our experience including our own wedding. We have the knowledge to make sure a day runs smoothly and get the most from your photography.
Let’s chat more about your needs so get in contact.
WE’RE LIGHT AND BRIGHT
WE’RE RELAXED BUT FUN
MADE OF COFFEE
Being from a French Canadian family I had the opportunity to go to school in a very diverse and cultural community Saint Boniface that was very much into expressing oneself through an artistic outlet. My passion for photography started at a very young age. I was always the friend who had the camera and took the pictures.
Things I love:
– Being a mother and wife. Adore my boys.
– Doors and textured walls ~ Ask me about the awesome thank you email I got from past clients involving signage and various doors.
– Penguins make me laugh… they seriously rock!
– Love a hot cup of tea in one of my vintage teacups… all given to me by my Gran and Great Aunt.
– The smell of home-baked bread, rain and freshly cut grass.
– A good thunderstorm! Like watching a good movie.
A very involved father and a bit of a geek. Addicted to organising, be it the house, getting ready for a trip, to do lists, timelines and photo list for my couples.
We are old school and have bookshelves full or photos in albums. Love looking at prints, especially ones that my parents and grandparents bring out and you get to see a glimpse into the past.
I bring an organised and calm view on things. Love collaborating with other suppliers and always looking to push for the next best thing.
– multi-tools like my Leatherman Charge TTi and Raptor.
– being a bit of a prepper. Prepares you for all things in life.
– organisation. Think Marie Kondo and what Sparks Joy! : )
– positivity and a good meme. KCCO!
“I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. To stand for something, and to have made some difference that you lived at all.” ~ Leo Rosten
We are big on reducing, reusing and recycling. We keep everything as digital where we can and when we do provide something physical we make sure that it is recyclable i.e. paper, wood or glass. We always try to make choices with these goals in mind and support suppliers who feel the same way.
We are proud of our accomplishments having been involved in incredible collaborations with fellow Scottish suppliers. You can also find our work featured in the below and many more of the world’s top wedding blogs. Featured in:
