At the beginning of March I did an incredibly beautiful and inspirational Asian bridal shoot featuring Ayush Kejriwal’s stunning pieces! We shot at The Corinthian in Glasgow’s city centre which perfectly suited the pieces. I met Ayush 5 years ago when I took photos of him with his beautiful mother and sister. We have kept in touch ever since and I have followed his journey to becoming an incredible and spirited designer. I was motivated to get in touch with him to organise a shoot as I just adore how he has a story and such beautiful words behind every piece.
Our models Pooja & Shaumyla for the shoot were so incredible to work with! Cannot thank them enough for rocking these pieces and bringing them to life. Thank you to Tayyibah who did an incredible job on make up and hair for the girls! Busy day with various different looks!
I just had to ask him what was the inspiration behind this collection.
“CHABEELI’ why I did what I did! When working on ‘CHABEELI’ I did not follow a particular style or theme. This collection is eclectic – what I mean is; it is not restricted to one particular style or theme. The thing is I do not know how to follow a theme, I have never been trained professionally and am not quite sure how to maintain a consistent look through out all my aesthetics. To be honest not being able to do that actually makes the whole collection all the more interesting. It enables me to offer my clients a lot of different techniques and aesthetics at one time rather than just one particular style. ‘CHABEELI’ includes an array of fabrics including handwoven khaddi, benarsi silk, net, georgettes, kalamkari, silk , crepe , georgette, fletcher ,voil and many more. I have used a mixture of block printing, texturing, dying and hand embroidery to bring the clothes to life and usual florals feature through out in some form or the other. The collection is very versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on how one accessorises it. As usual it has an old vintage charm to it, some of you may say it’s quite boring but that is fine, it reflects who I am – old school and boring. CHABEELI is my story, she is my song, she is my soul, she is my voice I am using her to talk to you. I love CHABEELI and I hope you do too.”
Ayush you are FAR from boring!! and I adored working with you. You make me smile.
