Absolutely over the moon to share this beautiful autumn wedding at Glengoyne Distillery with you all today! Not only was it beautiful but it was a rather special wedding since it was two of our lovely friends tying the knot.
Weddings are all special in their own right but when you get to capture and also be present for two people who’s relationship you have seen grow from the very beginning; it really is rather lovely. Kristin and Jonathan are the type of couple that just fit so well together so am not surprised they hit it off right away. Their personalities just flow together in perfect unison and we could not be happier that it culminated to them declaring their I do’s.
Let me give you a bit of back story. Kristin and I met at a wedding fayre over 4 years ago now. We got on so well and became really good friends. Since we are both photographers we had a lot in common of course. Kristin is the talent behind Struve Photography. Since she had trust in my skills she asked me to capture some portraits for her dating profile. I will always feel so honoured about this as that is how she landed a date with Jonathan and they are now husband and wife and they make such a beautiful family together! Kristin is a wonderful stepmother to Miho and they have recently welcomed little BjØrn into the world.
The wedding day was such a beautiful, fun and relaxed affair. They both got ready together at home where we were greeted by the lovely Una from Blush Hair Design and Sophie Edwards who did the ladies make up. Jonathan’s mom was over to join in the morning preparations and to keep Miho entertained as Kristin and Jonathan got ready.
Once ready and with Jonathan looking dapper in his Slaters suit they did a first look which was so incredibly sweet as it involved Miho as well. Jonathan was blown away as he walked into the room to see his two beautiful ladies looking beautiful in their Flossy and Dossy dresses and accessories by Gioia Mia!
Following the first look we made our way to the venue by stopping into places that are special to both of them for photos starting with Lenzie Moss and the old Milton of Campsie train station. Upon arrival at the distillery we were greeted by Kristin’s dad and Susan her bridesmaid which made for some special photos and some of my favourites of the day! The heartfelt ceremony filled with Kristin’s giggles was absolutely beautiful. Gerrie did such an amazing job and as we work in the industry she knows Kristin which made it that much more personal. Of course lets not forget how special it really must have been for Miho to see her dad get married to the stepmom she loves and adores so much!
Following the ceremony and the canapés the guests got a tour of the distillery while we got a few more photos of the happy couple and details of the beautifully laid out tables for the meal. Sophie from I Heart Flowers did such an incredible job and the cakes from Three Sisters Bake paired with Kristin’s mom and aunts home baking looked (and was) so yummy! I also adored the incorporation of the families beloved cats Fidel and Pepper. The meal itself was absolutely wonderful which was started off by speeches then a whiskey pairing in between each course. I am not a whiskey fan but I have to say I truly enjoyed learning how to enjoy it and hearing about the pairings.
All in all it truly was an incredible day to be a part of. It meant the world to us to be asked to photograph it and to be invited as guests. A wedding is such a huge moment in a couples life and to be a part of that is an honour. Thanking you both for being such wonderful friends and for entrusting us to capture it all. We are wishing you both a lifetime of happy moments, a whole lot of love and joy!!!
