Nicky and John married at The Western House Hotel in Ayrshire just this past weekend. The wedding and all the amazing moments they had on the day was matched by the beautiful weather and light. In February golden hour falls perfectly in time with the photo session which is an absolute dream.
We had such a great time with everyone and getting creative. Nicky’s dress from Ivory Pinks was so incredibly beautiful and so unique. I love seeing new dress designs and what brides go for. Teamed with beautiful accessories and those amazing flowers by Allie at Lavender Blue, she truly was a sight to behold. It is no wonder that John was absolutely blown away by his wife to be when she walked down that aisle! His reaction was priceless and absolutely perfect. Moments like these really bring it home for me on why I just adore capturing weddings. It is also a great pleasure working alongside amazing celebrants/humanists like Sheila Lawtie! She was absolutely wonderful.
Not only this but to witness awesome family dynamics as well. Nicky and her brother are really close to their granny and I am not in the least surprised as to why she is so beloved. She is a wee firecracker with style and some mean dance moves! At 92 she still knows how to party and reminds me so much of my sprightly 94-year-old granny. You do have to cherish all those moments with them as you never know when it can all change. This is another reason why hiring a professional photographer to capture your wedding is so important. These moments are irreplaceable.
So back to why you should opt in for a winter wedding?
- The weather is more likely to be crisp and dry
- Depending on which months your photo session can end up being right in that golden hour pocket which is AMAZING for photos
- It’s not as busy for suppliers so you have a much bigger chance of booking those suppliers you really wanted
