Edinburgh has a way of feeling like a storybook, especially on a clear summer day. The castle rises above the city, the light turns golden in the early evening, and the streets carry a kind of energy that makes anything feel possible. So, on one particularly gorgeous morning in June, something wonderful happened right beneath that famous skyline.

Moises and Stephanie had travelled all the way from Arizona with their family for a trip through Scotland. Their itinerary was full of castle tours and city walks, but it also held a secret. What Stephanie did not know was that Moises had a question he had been waiting to ask, and he had chosen Edinburgh Castle as the place to ask it.

A decorative turquoise fountain with statues is surrounded by flowers and greenery, with Edinburgh Castle perched on a rocky hill in the background under a cloudy sky.

The Proposal Moment

As the sun did some of its best work of the year, Moises got down on one knee with the castle standing watch behind them. Meanwhile, a quiet settled over the moment, even with the city still moving around them…Stephanie said yes to this all-important question!

Being there to capture it all was a privilege. From the split second of realisation on Stephanie’s face to the way their family held its breath just steps away, every detail came together as if the castle itself had been built for this purpose.

Why Edinburgh Is Perfect for Proposals

Edinburgh manages to feel grand and intimate at the same time, which is exactly what makes it so special for a moment like this. The castle brings scale and history, while the surrounding gardens and quiet closes offer privacy and warmth. In addition, a sunny June day means the light lingers well into the evening, so golden hour stretches on much longer than usual and gives photographs a timeless quality.

Furthermore, for couples travelling with family, like Moises and Stephanie, Edinburgh offers another advantage. The people who matter most can be right there to celebrate the instant the answer is given, so there is no waiting for a phone call and no missing the moment.
