Today on the blog is a fun Manitoban prairie farm wedding. Doing a farm wedding on the prairies where I grew up has been on the bucket list for me since I started this business.
Apart from Melissa and Tyler being such an awesome couple , this wedding was so incredibly special for a few reasons. One, I have known Tyler since he was a toddler along with his family and two my 16 year old son Tristan wanted to shadow Scott and I for the day so he actually captured a few of the photos in this blog! Tristan’s dad and many friends were guests so it really was great fun!
The wedding itself was such an awesome laid back affair which took place on Melissa’s grandparents farm, Dunn family farm. I loved all the special touches from her dress made by her aunt, the wooden signs, to the beautiful outdoor ceremony, the lawn games, the beautifully set up marquee, to the awesome buffet (mmm perogies!)…plus guests were welcome to set up tents to spend the night! So fun!
The wedding was attended by close family and friends! Guest came from near (as near as the land the wedding was on) and far like Carly and her husband Bo from Nicaragua. Carly is Tyler’s sister who now lives and runs her yoga/surfing business Papaya Wellness. Check it out!
It’s so nuts to think I used to babysit Tyler and Carly!! Crazy how time flies but it is also pretty awesome to step back and see what the people you grew up with have become. I am not surprised as their parents Brian and Wendy are two of the loveliest human beings I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. So kind and welcoming and always smiling. I have so many fond memories of growing up.
As for Melissa’s family I do not know them however from what I saw on the day of the wedding they are such a close knit family full of sisters and kids who seem to have such an incredible bond with each other and their grandparents. After seeing the wedding hosted on her grandparents farm it is clear that she is well loved and they would move heaven and earth for her which is so lovely to see.
Finally, what a wedding to finish up our trip to Canada with. We felt so fortunate having been asked to photograph two friends weddings. One city one which you can see here and this farm wedding. We really do hope to shoot more and we are available some summer month’s so do spread the word. We would love to hear from you!
I am now leaving you with these photos and I hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed taking them and being there!
To Tyler Melissa and Hunter…we wish you all an insane amount of joy, laughter, adventures, fun, love and happiness!!
