Flash back to summer time when this beautiful country wedding took place at Mey Village Hall near Thurso.
This wedding brought us all the way North to Caithness. As wedding photographers in Scotland and abroad we love a good adventure. We absolutely adored having a reason for a road trip through Scotland and what a great 3 days we had…despite missing our wee Louie fiercely. The weather was just stunning and particularly on the way back down so the sights were incredible and made me fall in love with Scotland all over again. Have a peek at some of those sights here on a previous blog post.
Scotland is such a beautiful country in any situation so I feel we are very fortunate to be able to capture couples wedding days in such beautiful backdrops and locations. Holly and Michael married where they grew up and live near Thurso in the local village town hall. It is near the northern most tip of mainland Britain and by the sea side. Breathtaking!
Preparations for the girls took place in the home that they built for each other which adds to the whole story of them as a unit. I can only imagine the beautiful life they will have along with their children April and a new little one on the way with those vistas and being surrounded by their family and friends. I do love small village life and the tight knit community feel is second to none.
The ceremony was so personal and absolutely lovely. We were greeted by scare crow figurines representing Holly and Michael on arrival. Farmer and farmers wife! So cute! The marquee was decorated in such a colourful, fun and bright way with an incredible wicker and floral arch. Perfect colours for a summer wedding! The DIY wedding theme carried on through perfectly to the wedding breakfast tables. I absolutely adored the chair cover sashes. Was lovely to see a pattern as opposed to a block colour.
In addition to the beautiful styling the locations we had for their photo session were incredible! The Castle of Mey being one of them with it’s incredible drive with the perfectly arched tree way and the beautiful gardens which we were allowed to use! Thank you to the staff for being so wonderful and accommodating. We also got some evening shots just behind the village hall in the evening to finish. Adored the contrast between both locations and the feeling from both with the evening shots being more care free and relaxed.
Hope you enjoy have a look through these photos as much as we enjoyed being there to photograph them.
We had such a wonderful time with Holly and Michael and cannot wish them enough joy, happiness, laughter and love as husband and wife and as the incredible parents they are.
