Thought I would share this romantic wedding styled shoot at Shieldhill Castle which Sonia from Gioia Mia and Una from Blush Hair Designs asked me to be a part of. The vision was authentic & intimate with a Scottish style. Our models Tim and Laura were so natural and amazing to shoot so was an absolute pleasure!
Una and Sonia wanted to create images that would reflect some of Scotland’s finest details, while still keeping a personal and intimate feel. They wanted all nationalities to look at the images and get a feel of homely nostalgia and a love for everything modern, yet traditionally Scottish. Una’s hair inspiration was whimsical and relaxed with a real feel of Celtic, hence the representation of pleats. The emphasis on relaxed is a huge feature through her work and so it was important to carefully pick styles to tie in with dresses, make up, accessories and surroundings.
Sheildhill Castle as a venue was the starting point inspiration for the shoot. It is a family run, rustic house. The house itself and also the grounds are ample for wedding photos and was an absolute dream for this shoot.
The dresses were spotted by Suzanne at Make up by Suzanne, whom on talking to the ladies from Poppy Bridal, knew straight away their passion for something less mainstream and more elegant for the shoot. Brian from Slanj was inspirational. His high interest in making the shoot alternative from the typical Scottish dress was fantastic. He was keen to showcase less common, but more alternative tweeds. On seeing Tim he was able to put together outfits with an antique yet modern Scottish feel.
When it came to the flowers, Una met Mary and saw she had a real passion for colour. From first contact she had a true love of the house and had clearly had images of what best would complement the shoot. Her first reaction was to think straight out the box and create something edgy & different to a “Scottish” theme.
Was an absolute pleasure on our behalf to be asked to be a part of this shoot. We had such a fun day and think back to it fondly. It’s always such an honour to work with such a group of talented wedding suppliers!
