We love doing styled shoots every year and this spring bridal shoot was so incredibly beautiful! Set in such a stunning location on Loch Fyne (near my favourite restaurant Loch Fyne oyster bar) Ardkinglas ticks every box for a romantic destination wedding in Scotland. It is picturesque, breathtaking and memorable; plus the house is incredibly beautiful with bags of character.
Sonia from Gioia Mia asked us to be a part of a styled shoot she wanted to plan to showcase some of her beautiful jewellery pieces. From the beginning the whole team of suppliers had it in mind to keep it simple, dreamy, romantic, soft and feminine . I believed we achieved this by getting the perfect group of suppliers, the right location and model. Using Cherry Blossoms as our key inspiration we let our creativity flow.
‘The florals were inspired by the blossoming cherries dotted around the estate’s beautiful garden. Soft pinks, and peaches complemented the colour of both Flossy & Dossy dresses whilst pops of powder blue brought a delicate contrast to the look. Seasonal flowers such as Hyacinth, Freesia and Delphinium were gathered in a loose, hand tied bouquet with trails of sweetpea and silk ribbons by Lancaster and Cornish helping to create a sense of whimsy.” Lisa
“We were lucky to have two exquisite Flossy & Dossy dresses, so we decided to have 2 hair and make up looks. Since the theme of this shoot was whimsical and romantic with pastel colours, I wanted to keep Laura’s make up light, fresh and flawless. For the first look, I used Jane Iredale (Jl) mineral makeup-liquid foundation to give a soft, dewy base and chose Jl ‘peach sherbet’ & MAC ‘paradisco’ on eyelid. Jl ‘sheer honey’ blusher gave a wee glow to Laura’s cheeks and lip gloss in ‘spice’ for a romantic lip. I decided to darken Laura’s eyes for the second make up look and added MAC ‘cork’ & Jl ‘double espresso’ to the eyelids and socket. A little darker eye liner flick enhanced the eyes further. Lily Lolo lipstick in ‘romantic rose’ brightened up the lips. For the first hairstyle, I created soft, romantic curls in Laura’s hair, that would move naturally in the breeze. I wanted to keep this style simple but pretty and Gioia Mia’s hair band looked just stunning against Laura’s dark hair. For the second look, I created a more detailed and dramatic style, whilst still maintaining the soft, romantic look overall. I created much more volume in Laura’s hair and swept it to one side to create low, loose curls. I also swept her fringe to the side for a softer look. I added the delicate Gioia Mia Swavroski pearl and rhinestone hair pins into these curls for the wow factor.” Lesley
“I really loved the whole feel and styling of this shoot: Light, soft, whimsical, romantic and very feminine. We decided when we were planning the shoot that we wanted to showcase a couple of different but complementary looks. So there were two different Flossy & Dossy dresses and two different hairstyles. I chose a headband, comb and set of hairpins in clear rhinestone and Swarovski pearl. It was important to me that they didn’t overshadow, or take away from Wendy’s at Flossy & Dossy’s beautiful dresses, so they were all quite delicate pieces. The organic feel of their design picked up on the lace, the necklines and hemlines in the dresses, and echoed the whole feel of the shoot as well. I kept the earrings very simple, just sterling silver and Swavroski pearl drops in different lengths, so as not to take away from the neckline of the dresses or distract from the hairpieces. I added a dainty Swavroski pearl bracelet in a simple, organice design that mirrored the shape and feel of the hair accessories.” Sonia
