Against all odds weather wise Nona & Jame’s wedding went ahead despite the snowstorm ‘Beast from the East’.
To say this wedding was a snowy wonderland is an understatement! And, it was an absolute pleasure to photograph, although the coldest one yet in the whole 8 years we have been doing this. Massive kudos to all who braved the cold for some snaps outside which just had to be done with all that beautiful white snow.
How did the wedding go ahead?
The heavy snow started the Wednesday and did not stop until the day before the wedding. I have to admit it looked grim…the photos of the massive 49cm snow drifts posted on Ross Priory’s facebook page worried us all but they were determined to make this wedding happen! A local farmer was recruited in clearing the access road to the venue and by the afternoon on Friday, it was a go! Just in time. Nona also picked up her wedding dress in the nick of time on Friday night! Phew!
Sadly not all things were a go. Some of James’s groomsmen could not fly into Glasgow from America for the wedding and Krispy Kreme doughnuts were replaced with Tim Horton’s doughnuts! but being Canadian I was most pleased with this. I grew up with Timmy’s after all!
The day itself was as smooth and to plan as any other wedding would have been. All suppliers, the couple and their friends and family made sure that this day would be absolutely perfect and it was with that extra bit of magic…the huge amounts of snow! Loch Lomond was a sight to behold with it’s snowy frozen peaks and it was worth freezing fingers and toes for.
So what do you do if you come across such weather on the run up to tour wedding day or on the day?
First of all, don’t panic! Things will come together in the end and it will still be a day to remember. Everyone who is involved will make sure to put in their bit to help out which will actually make you realise just how invested and excited everyone is for your wedding.
I am positive that Nona and James will not only remember their wedding as the day they became husband and wife but also as a day where everyone got together to ensure that it happened. That is pretty humbling and special if I do say so myself!
Wishing you both an amazing honeymoon! It was an absolute honour to be a part of it all capturing these memories.
