So happy to share this proposal in Hawaii on the blog today! So incredibly proud of this shoot and my brother so this is a shoot close to my heart. Scott and I spent an incredible 3 weeks with my family in Hawaii. A holiday of a lifetime which we were not going to miss out on plus my brother had something special in store for his gorgeous girlfriend Shabnam. A Proposal and I got to photograph it. This has to be one of my top 5 moments in my life. I don’t think my brother could of given me a bigger gift then to be a part of such a special moment in their lives. I will always and forever remember every moment of this day.
We had an amazing 3 weeks of weather until the last 2 days which was when he was proposing so we had to come up with plan B. Plan A was a helicopter ride for all of us to another island but the weather was too awful. Never mind this we had to come up with a plan and with a romantic and unforgettable location! Scott and I had rented vespas for the day the day before the proposal. We rode our vespas until the road ended which brought us to the lava fields at the bottom of Haleakala along the sea side. The landscape was out of this world and just passed the lava we spotted several white sandy beaches. I didn’t think at that moment that it would play a role in the following days events but I was so happy I was able to suggest it as it was a proposal like no other!! See if you can spot a rock in the tree where he proposed which none of us noticed at first. It was meant to be!!! and besides they met on a beach in Vancouver where Shabnam is from so it was indeed very fitting!!
As destination wedding photographers we always love traveling to photograph weddings to amazing locations in the world. This was definitely up there in terms of location!!! Thanks again for that opportunity Jean-Claude!
