Why should you book a maternity session?
There are so many reasons which I will list below but the number one reason above them all is to commemorate and celebrate your superhuman body! I mean you’re growing human life in there!
Let us start by chatting all things pregnancy. I think it’s divided on how women feel and enjoy (or not) their pregnancy. However, setting that aside just look at yourself in the mirror or down at the gorgeous bump. Isn’t it just incredible that you are carrying life in there?
No matter how sick or unsexy you may feel ( in saying this a lot of women feel at their most beautiful…I know I did! ) when looking down at that bump and thinking of your future as its mummy those thoughts bring on a huge surge of love, happiness and hope. These are all deserving to be captured. This is a once in a lifetime experience which your body is made for! This probably has to be THE best superpower to have.
“Pregnancy Glow”
I don’t think there is anything like it to compare to in this world! Check out the science behind it here! Pretty powerful stuff.
Setting the science aside for a moment though, the inner knowing and the moments only you share with your little one is pretty darn special! The floods of love and excitement you feel which bring on pure and utter contentment are what in my opinion give you that GLOW. That just throws itself out there in the world and only good can come of it. That’s what I like to think anyway!
That, and well obviously your body working its magic giving you the best hair of your life, sexy curves, fuller lips…! You may not necessarily see it yourself but it’s my job to capture it on camera.
**handy tip!** Use the shoot as an excuse to spoil yourself! Go and get your hair and makeup done, pamper yourself and go buy yourself a new outfit for the shoot. All of these things can also help you feel more confident in front of the camera.
Are you on the maternity session bandwagon yet?!
Teetering on the edge? Well, let me tempt you further then.
If you and your partner are head over heels in love with each other, a maternity shoot is a perfect way to capture that. Trust me you won’t regret it and your little one will be gushing all over them when he sees just how much his parents love each other. After all, he/she is a product of that love am I right?
Apart from these two cuties who involved their beloved dog…I mean how bloody cute is that?
Imagine yourself a few years down the road sitting on the couch with your little one. Being able to use your maternity photos to show your child where they came from and how they grew in your belly is pretty powerful stuff. It’s a great little bonding moment in which you get to tell them just how much love and anticipation you felt at the time.
Trust me, I’ve done it and its a moment I will forever keep locked away in my heart as my son was amazed and the smile he gave me nearly had me in tears.

Have you been pregnant before? so you’re thinking “what’s the point in getting another shoot done or I didn’t do it with the others so why now”?
Well, stop thinking that as this is the only pregnancy you will have with this child!
Every pregnancy is different as you will know so why not capture those memories. Use it as an excuse for family photos.
Get your child/children involved in the shoot as well. This is entirely up to you but I have to say there is something rather special in capturing what children are feeling about becoming a big sister or brother. The good and the funny (if your little is not so keen on it! haha! ).
My final point brings me to this and it makes me so emotional since one of my boys is an adult and the other one is growing up far too fast.
It feels like yesterday that my youngest was just born where we had a whole lifetime of memory-making ahead of us and plenty of firsts to look forward to. He’s done a lot of firsts already and is about to start school this year.
All I can think is “time please slow down” OR even better can we just rewind to 5 years ago when I was pregnant so that I can do it all over again?
Looking at the photos my husband took of me are so precious as it whips me right back to those feelings and hopes and dreams for Louie. I’ll never regret asking Scott to take them and we still have some up in frames in our home. They will never date and that’s the power a photograph holds.
In the end, whatever you’re feeling about motherhood or your pregnancy at this moment in time; time goes past you at lightning speed and you can’t ever get that moment back ever so despite the feeling that a photo session would be more of a chore…I guarantee you will not regret it. You will likely regret it if you don’t.
If you know of anyone who would love a maternity shoot and if that person is yourself drop me a line as I’d love to chat with you. I am hugely passionate about anything motherhood so capturing these types of photo sessions brings me great joy!
